Just Breathe...

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
can you help me unravel my latest mistake,
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season...

'Cause you can't jump the track,we're like cars on a cable
and life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button girl,
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe,
Ooh breathe, just breathe...

There's a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
But you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
These mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

 2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, its no longer
inside of me, threatening the life it belong's to
And i feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
and breathe, just breathe
ooh breathe, just breathe,
oh breathe, just breathe.

After the Rain

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky.
~William Wordsworth
Took this picture with my phone on the way home from work today.  The colors were much more vivid in person.  Seeing a rainbow always makes me

This is my dream house...

Photo is a house in Sturbridge, MA.
The rock wall is beautiful!!  The only thing I'd change about any of it is the color of the house.  Not sure what other color I'd want.  Definitely nothing too dark.

The Rainy Day

The Rainy Day

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It   rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I don't want to deny
my heart its chance
to feel. I don't want to deny my soul
something real.
Is there anything left
in this world
that will satisfy me?

Decision Made...

Happy Mother's Day

 Young Mother Sewing
Mary Cassatt

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.
~Tenneva Jordan
Mother and Child
Mary Cassett
When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.  A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.
~Sophia Loren
Mary Cassett
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
~Washington Irving

Modern Art in Knoxville

A few weeks ago I went with some friends to Knoxville, TN to see a show at the Historic Tennessee Theatre.  That weekend happened to be the first day of the Art in Public Places exhibit, a part of the annual Dogwoods Festival of the Arts.

Modern art sculptures have been placed at seven different locations around Knoxville for the Art in Public Places exhibit.  The ones I saw were along Gay Street in the Old City part of Knoxville.

Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of any of the sculptures; but you can click this link to view pictures that accompanied the newspaper article below.

Anything But Mine

    "Walkin along beneath the lights of that miracle mile, Me and Mary makin our way into the night.
And you can hear the cries from the carnival rides, the pinball bells, skeeball slides, Watchin' the summer sun fall out of sight.

There's a warm wind comin in from off of the ocean,
Makin its way past the hotel walls to fill the street.

Mary is holdin both of her shoes in her hand;
Said she likes to feel the sand beneath her feet."

There's a local band playing at the seaside pavilion

And I got just enough cash to get us in

And as we're dancin Mary's wrapping her arms around me
And I can feel the sting of summer on my skin
In the midst of the music I tell her I love her
We both laugh cause we know it isn't true
Ah but Mary there's a summer drawing to an end tonight
And there's so much that I long to do to you"
