Take This Tune
Take This Tune is hosted by Jamie at Duward Discussion. Each Friday a video prompt is posted as a theme. You can write anything you want in response to the video, the lyrics, or the idea of the piece. You can use writing, poetry, a photo or a painting for your post. Just link back to Take This Tune after you post and see what others have posted. Monday is the official day but Jamie says it's okay to cheat (like me!) and post any day of the week.
This Friday's Take This Tune is Whistle Down The Wind, from a musical (that's also called Whistle Down The Wind) by Andrew Lloyd Weber. Find a synopsis of the musical here.
Whistle Down The Wind
Even though someone close to us may no longer be with us, we don't have to be sad, or lonely or afraid, thinking that we are all alone. Our memories keep them with us forever. We can forget being sad and can find comfort in our memories.
I really enjoyed participating in Take This Tune. After listening to the song and thinking about what it meant, I thought of a poem that I like by ee cummings.

in time of daffodils (who know
the goal of living is to grow)
forgetting why, remember how
the goal of living is to grow)
forgetting why, remember how
in time of lilacs who proclaim
the aim of waking is to dream,
remember so (forgetting seem)
the aim of waking is to dream,
remember so (forgetting seem)
in time of roses (who amaze
our now and here with paradise)
forgetting if, remember yes
our now and here with paradise)
forgetting if, remember yes
in time of all sweet things beyond
whatever mind may comprehend,
remember seek (forgetting find)
whatever mind may comprehend,
remember seek (forgetting find)
and in a mystery to be
(when time from time shall set us free)
forgetting me, remember me
(when time from time shall set us free)
forgetting me, remember me
I love that poem! It's been ages since I read anything from cummings. Thanks for that!
